Situated in the Capital One building at BKC on the first floor,
You woud get the impression that it might not have captured
anyones eye as yet , but this little gem of a place was crowded in the noon full of organic veg food lovers.
This place is hardly 3 months old but has caught the attention of food lovers.
Started by 4 young guys in their early 20’s this is their project which they want to grow over a period of time.
We met up with one of the partners Mr. Manan Mehta and he so busy attending to the crowd and taking orders if needed and making sure the staff
did their job well , we could see how passionate he was with this venture of his. when asked he said they outsource their organic vegetables from farms outside Mumbai
and they arrive fresh everyday. A very nice initiative taken by these guys to have a restaurant that serves organic food to the health food conscious people of Mumbai.
We certainly require more such places. One might have to pay a bit of a premium price at such places but you are guaranteed fresh and organic health friendly food.
We were invited by The Joint to sample their menu offerings and review them.
we started with their Mountain O Nachos…yummmy … the Nachos are freshly made and they are unlike any other nachos that you might have had elsewhere.
they are wafer thin and crisp . and mind you , it was a huge serving . with loads of fresh veggies and beans and ooozing melted cheese .
a perfect starter to get you going along with the Watermelon Lime Spritzer . this drink was yummy and not too overpowering in terms of the soda. and neither overly sweet.
perfect for a sunny mumbai afternoon to cool you down.
Also ordered the Cold Coffee which was topped with a hefty amount of whipped cream and sprinkled with roasted coffee beans and was really nice and thick. not watery as u sometimes get.
next came the Hummus to You …a delicious serving of hummus with pita bread . my only complaint about this was that the pita bread was not crisp , but was veery soft to eat. that’s why
could not dip it in the hummus and scoop it up .
Next we called for a small serving for the Yamosas and the Corn Fritters.
the baby samosas had a potato filling and were freshly made ,which is why they were hot and the shell was crispy. overall a good taste.
the corn fritters had a bit of cheese filling in it and was crispy to bite on the outside and nice and soft on the inside.
Then came the Garlic Mozzarella Bomb Bread. as the name suggests this is for cheese lovers . although the cheese was not melted enough , the taste of the garlic bread and marinanra sauce
served with it made up for it.
Chilli Cheese Burger. Huge Burger served cut in half , has a huge veggie patty .
nice amount of chilli and cheese . it is served with a side portion of inhouse fries.
Bhaji Fries. wanted to try this one as now a days a lot of places and offering loaded fries.
this was served in a pan . the fries are cooked and then topped with bhaji ( mixed vegetable gravy) and cheese . this is then baked for a few minutes to melt the cheese and serrved
spiking hot. yummy. if you order this you wont have space for much more as its a big portion. they have other options in loaded fries so take your pick and order.
Falafel Unwrapped. hmmm….although the falafel was tasty and crisp , I didn’t like the fact that the pita bread was not fluffy and did not have pockets to stuff the salad and falafel
n sauces in . I know the name suggests that it is “unwrapped” version of the dish , but it was a bit difficult to eat everything separately.
Ferrero Nutella Mousse.one word for this . YUMMMY. do try this at the end of your meal for chocolate kick.
Overall it was a great treat at The American Joint .
